That’s basically what they did with American Psycho which I loved, but I want to spend time with these characters more. Movies tend take the greatest hits from the book and incorporate it into a screenplay. It’ll most likely move in the way the book did so I’m anxious to see how they pull it off. Since it’s going to be streamed through Hulu. The tender age didn’t seem to bother Ellis as he effortlessly deconstructs the youth of his generation in Los Angeles. I love seeing how directors and screenwriters adapt novels into film or TV. In modern times, it’s hard to imagine a better published first novel than Bret Easton Ellis’ Less Than Zero, published in 1985, when the writer was just 21. I had been wanting to start this book for quite some time and finally decided to read it because there’s a Hulu mini series coming out this year according to IMDb. It’s not a very long novel (208 pages) and it’s easy to digest. It’s a dark satire and while it’s not a LOL every page, there are some moments in the book where I chuckled a bit. In the sense he has trouble feeling or expressing his feelings to himself or to the people around him. I wanted a little more, but I think the point of the novel is that the protagonist is cold. I give it 3/5 stars because there were some parts I felt didn’t need to be in the book to move the story and a bit of an anticlimactic ending, but smooth writing and some quippy dialogue.
